Purpose and Job Summary

ORIX Corporation USA is seeking a Payroll Analyst for the its Human Resources team in Dallas, Texas. The Payroll Analyst is responsible for activities required in our Workday HCM enabled Payroll, Time and Payroll Accounting and Payroll Reporting processes, including all validations and controls. The incumbent will work closely with our 3rd party payroll & financial benefits fulfillment providers for tax filings, wage payments, wage assignment filings and payments, 401k, H.S.A., FSA, etc. Additionally, this position will be responsible for setup of and validation of EE & ER tax data, including but not limited to state & local tax setup.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process payroll in a timely and accurate manner including special payouts such as incentives, gift reporting, expatriate payments, gross-ups, and other related activities
  • Manage all correspondence and tracking of payroll tax notices including coordination with internal tax department, legal department, and payroll processor as needed for special scenarios
  • Prepare wire transfers and ACHs for payroll and related vendors including 401K, FSA, and deferred compensation, etc.
  • Support the administration of Worker’s Compensation activities.
  • Maintain employee files and master data records with up to date information; provides expertise and recommendations as needed on earnings, benefit, vacation, and tax calculations/adjustments to major stakeholders
  • Calculate benefits deductions and vacation payouts; establish earnings/deductions codes in payroll systems for tracking/reporting purposes. Ensures systems configuration is correctly set up to control accuracy and consistent applications to minimize risk of error for any over/under payments or reporting
  • Assist with accruals and payroll journal entries for proper posting in PeopleSoft/Workday
  • Partner with the Accounting department on month-end close and reconciliation reports as needed
  • Update department policies to reflect new or improved business processes including controls and workflow; Leads continuous improvement efforts in the department
  • Complete special projects and ad hoc reporting upon request
  • Conduct Federal and State Tax Reconciliation on a quarterly and yearly frequency
  • Conduct 401k and Benefit deductions reconciliations
  • Prepare accruals, reconciliations, analytical commentary for payroll liabilities/provisions; maintains supporting documentation which provides an audit trail for internal/external auditors
  • Payroll documentation should include control checks to maintain high level of accuracy
  • Assumptions/analyses should provide insight into whether balances are appropriate to avoid any unanticipated, material adjustments
  • Audit and reconcile payroll taxes including Forms 941, 940, and any state related taxes.
  • Complete quarterly and year-end analyses to ensure government and compliance reporting is accurate and adheres to auditor requirements.
  • Respond in a timely and professional manner to all audit requests from workers comp, 401k, internal and year-end audit, corporate compliance, and tax authorities
  • Participate in special audits, as required, by government, corporate, or compliance request
  • Contacts

    This position has frequent contact with all levels of employees and management. In addition, this role may interact with outside business partners, vendors, consultants, and other office visitors.

    Education, Skills & Experience

    Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university or 5+ experience in a similar position with responsibility in payroll cycle, taxable benefits and payroll reports
  • Proficiency with payroll systems and software for data report creation
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Demonstrated success working with cross functional partners in a business environment
  • Superior critical thinking skills are required
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated accuracy
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide deliverables timely
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and proactively communicate with manager and key business partners
  • Experience with Workday HCM payroll software and PeopleSoft required
  • Preferred

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional certification (CPP)
  • 4-year degree in Business Administration or related field from an accredited university
  • Internal audit or SOX compliance experience
  • Experience in analyzing payroll taxes
  • Experience in handling expat payroll, including working with outside vendor on taxation of such
