General Summary of Duties: The preoperative assessment nurse gathers medical history, surgical history, medications and any other pertinent patient information necessary to ensure a safe and successful anesthesia experience The Location Wilmington, Delaware Position Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Conduct phone interview with patients, several days prior to their procedure, for purpose of collecting any and all medical information required for anesthesiologist case review and approval. + Document given health history completely, accurately and in a timely manner. + Conduct and/or arrange appropriate investigations with specialty medical offices as needed. + Provide appropriate information and education for patients on the proposed anesthesia, to include NPO guidelines and medication instructions. + Develop and maintain strong working relationships with anesthesiologists, affiliated ASC's and surgeon office. + Responsible for working independently as well as functioning within a team to coordinate daily workload.
