Position SummaryReporting to the Vice President for Human Resources, the Assistant Vice President for Talent, Learning, and Organizational Development is responsible for leading the University s talent acquisition, learning and organizational development teams in providing high-level HR expertise to all of NYU s administrative divisions; the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development; as well as several academic centers and institutes. With a highly collaborative and team-building approach, this position ensures the delivery of learning and organizational development services to all schools and units across the entire University. The Assistant Vice President partners across the University with a wide range of stakeholders, including our global sites and portal campuses. The Assistant Vice President provides oversight to recruitment operations, ensuring compliance and adherence to University policies, bargaining unit agreements, and to Federal, New York State, and New York City laws for the University's staff and administrator population. Through demonstrated 'best practices', he/she also designs and manages the University's professional and leadership development, career development, performance management, and organization design and effectiveness programs. He/she consults with University leadership on planning and execution of unit-specific and University-wide organizational development and organizational change initiatives.Qualifications Required Education: Master s degree (e.g., Organizational Development, Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field). Preferred Education: Ph.D. Required Experience: 10+ years of professional experience with employee learning programs, professional and executive recruitment, with a track record of measurable results. Experience designing customized learning and development programs across different functional areas. Experience leading a team in a large, complex, highly decentralized, multi-national organization. Preferred Experience: Experience leading a learning team for a large research organization. Examples of desired learning programs include leadership development programs, mentoring, conflict resolution, compliance based learning, etc. Experience in higher education and working in a bargaining unit environment. Experience managing and/or collaborating closely with other areas of HR such as compensation, employee relations, benefits, etc. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Broad understanding and expertise of organization learning, and development and staff recruitment. Strong technology expertise in online learning or talent acquisition systems. Strong understanding of management and leadership development. Must have excellent conceptual and collaborative skills, engaging leaders, direct reports, and colleagues across the institution. Candidate must possess highly developed organizational and time management skills to effectively handle and prioritize multiple tasks. Must demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build trust and relationships with leadership, faculty, employees, and external constituents in a diverse community. Must demonstrate strong written communication skills in providing information as needed to leadership and in staying abreast with key initiatives, projects, or issues within portfolio. Candidate must have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think collaboratively, strategically, and creatively. Must possess the ability to achieve goals through diplomatically promoting collaboration; team-building and working cooperatively is essential. Candidate should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: The desired candidate is flexible and adaptable, highly knowledgeable of adult learning styles, and has a strong track record of building unit or organizational talent programs within a complex and rapidly changing organization.
