Position Summary The Director of Strategic Initiatives will play a key role in developing, leading, coordinating and implementing NYU IT s strategic departmental initiatives. These initiatives focus on providing value to NYU IT in support of increasing effectiveness, efficiency and impact in the work we do and how we work. The success of this role will be in achieving strategic positive impact on NYU IT through leading initiatives that deliver core improvements in process, technology and culture, and as demonstrated by data and performance measures. The individual will be part of the NYU IT leadership team and must demonstrate the core beliefs and deliver results. This individual will be expected to interact and partner with leaders and staff across NYU IT, working cross-functionally to engage and align the organization for meaningful contribution to the initiatives. Participation in and leadership of key constituent meetings will be expected to ensure appropriate and responsive follow-up and accountability. Effective guidance and management of one or more staff members may be required. The individual in this role will interact with clients and other groups within the NYU community to ensure continuity and clarity and to build/reinforce partnerships. This position will report to and work with the AVP of Strategy, Planning and Engagement in NYU IT. Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor's Degree Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Business, Technology. Six Sigma certification and/or Project Management certification Required Experience: 10+ years of increasing responsibility leading high visibility, complex projects and project teams in an information technology organization Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, providing clear, positive leadership and guidance for day-to-day progress. This should include demonstrated experience leading Transformational IT organizational initiatives. Preferred Experience: 10+ years managing a broad range of information technology transformation projects of increasing complexity and impact. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Good judgement, tact, diplomacy, ability to work well with individuals and groups within and across the organization. Ability to lead and operate in areas of ambiguity and prioritize. Proven track record of working with other individuals and teams to lead and deliver successful cross organization initiatives. Problem solver. Ability to identify and address core issues and engage others in developing and implementing solution(s). Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools. Ability to perform business case analysis and development, and work with data. Proficient with PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Google Suite, and productivity and collaboration tools. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Superior analytical, quantitative and conceptual thinking skills: Ability to work with spreadsheets to organize and structure data and perform analysis. Able to develop and interpret analytical reports. Solid understanding of financial implications of changes in scope and direction. Ability to use Pivot Tables.
