Position SummaryThe Center for Faculty Advancement (CFA) promotes the Provost s Office mission to recruit, retain, and promote faculty professional advancement throughout the faculty life cycle. Through the CFA we develop and implement strategies and programs that aggressively expand the diverse talent pools from which we recruit faculty, effectively onboard and orient new faculty, and position them for success. The CFA provides professional development opportunities and develops mentorship networks that enable faculty to conduct and seek internal and external support for high quality research, creative and professional activities, insure that our faculty excel at teaching the increasingly diverse students in our classrooms, and achieve professional milestones such as tenure, promotion, and contract renewal. The CFA s work also actively develops faculty leadership capacity both within and beyond NYU, creates opportunities to increase faculty scholarly and creative visibility and publicly recognizes our faculty s extraordinary contributions to research, teaching, mentoring and engagement with the communities across the globe that they impact. The Center for Faculty Advancement is seeking a Program Director, who will report to the Vice Provost for Faculty Engagement and Development. The Program Director will manage and help the organization measure the progress and outcomes of the Center s programs in three key areas: faculty onboarding; faculty and academic pipeline development; and faculty professional development. This includes coordinating and managing the expansion of the Faculty First Look Program within and beyond NYU, increasing the scope and effectiveness of NYU s university- wide New Faculty Orientation and first year professional development series for incoming junior faculty, and developing systems and structures to promote and maximize faculty engagement in professional and leadership development opportunities offered through the CFA and offerings across NYU s Schools, Research Centers, & Institutes. Additionally, the Program Director serves as the Vice Provost's primary administrator to manage and report on the CFA s budget, develop annual expenditure reports and new budget proposals, and prepare reports for the Vice Provost presentations to senior leadership and other University constituencies.Qualifications Required Education: Master's Degree in a related academic discipline Preferred Education: Doctoral Degree or Juris Doctorate (J.D.) Required Experience: 10+ years of progressively responsible professional level experience at a higher education institution in significant faculty-facing roles. Must include experience with faculty recruitment processes and procedures, demonstrated experience with academic pipeline building that feed doctoral, postdoctoral and faculty recruitment, and extensive experience developing one or more forms of faculty professional development programs. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, strategic, management and systems skills. Familiarity with university professional development and continuing education course platforms and financial management systems, and event management and management systems are a plus. Demonstrated effective people and operational management skills, team collaboration skills, and the demonstrated ability to develop and implement new programs and initiatives.
