The NPI engineer shall demonstrate proficiency, experience and acumen in the following:

Provide Operations design input to Product Development team

* Contribute to product manufacturing engineering from concept through NPI and eventual transition to ultimate manufacturer

* Establish robust assembly processes for both new products developed at Nordson MEDICAL Design and Development and those transferred into Nordson MEDICAL

* Support transfer of new product design into clean room production environments

* Design in 3-D CAD, specify, procure, and install tooling, fixtures, and equipment to establish balanced production lines that meet time requirements (Note: not absolutely required but preferred)

* Incorporate Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFM) techniques into development

* Establish test methods and conduct testing on components, devices, and processes

* Support equipment maintenance and service needs

* Estimate assembly times, labor and space requirements, piece part pricing, and equipment required for projects

* Document processes in procedures and complete related documentation

* Participate in risk analysis for new and existing products

* Execute process qualifications and validations, including Gage R&Rs and Design of Experiments

* Maintain detailed documentation throughout all phases

* Order, fabricate and assemble prototypes for engineering evaluation, life testing, customer evaluation, and/or commercial release, as required

* Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering preferred.

* Ten years of medical device design and development experience is required.

* Hands-on experience with plastic and metal assembly and processing, i.e. laser welding and bonding, adhesives, crimping, swaging, heat sealing, ultrasonic welding, injection molding, solvent bonding, extrusions, visual and dimensional inspection systems.

* Professional writing skills required.

* Familiarity with FDA QSR and ISO 13485 medical device regulations

* Flexibility, persistence, resourcefulness, a drive to succeed, and an entrepreneurial spirit

* Solidworks 3D CAD proficiency (Note: not absolutely required but preferred)

* Knowledge of probability and statistics

* Familiarity with MiniTab or similar data analysis package

* Demonstrated ability to bring products from concept to market
