Raytheon Company s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Mechanical Engineering Directorate (MED) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment. The Mechanical Engineering Directorate uses state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon Six Sigma principles. MED s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test and documentation.

Job Description:

The Mechanical Engineering Directorate (MED) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment. The MED uses state-of-the-art tools, processes technology and Raytheon Six Sigma principles.

The Rapid Hardware Solutions (RHS) Department of MED has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer to support cooling and hydraulic systems used in a variety of harsh environmental military applications. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Requirements generation
  • Mechanical design, analysis, and documentation of hardware and systems
  • Drawing generation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation
  • Resolution of change requests from manufacturing or suppliers
  • Factory and supplier support of product integration domestically and internationally

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

    Required Skills:
  • At least two years of experience involving cooling systems
  • Experience in solid modeling tools such as Pro/Engineer, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor or similar tool.

  • Desired Skills:
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude
  • Willingness for international travel to Middle East, Asia, and Europe.
  • Experienced in the application of ANSI 14.5M 1994 (1982), Geometric Dimension & Tolerance.
  • Proficiency in Product Data Management (PDM).
  • Good presentation and writing skills
  • Willingness to travel to domestic Raytheon sites, suppliers, and government facilities
  • Ability to interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to resolve technical issues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Course work in the fields of Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Heat Transfer

  • Required Education (including Major):
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or related engineering discipline).
