General Summary of Position:

The Director of Student Conduct provides leadership, vision and strategic planning for the Office of Student Conduct.? The Director is a thought leader on campus concerning the rights and responsibilities of students, and ensures that student behavior related policies, procedures and processes are informed by current legislation, case law and federal guidelines.? In addition, the Director is responsible for monitoring and maintaining a fair, civil, and educational Student Conduct Process.? The Director will serve as an investigator for high level student conduct cases and is also appointed as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator.

The Director of Student Conduct is a member of the Division of Student Affairs Leadership team, will work collaboratively with offices across the university including, Residence Life, University Police, Athletics, Student Activities, Admissions, and the Schools and Colleges.? Beyond leadership of the Office of Student Conduct, the Director, along with the other Directors and Deans provides collaborative and seamless leadership of the Division of Student Affairs.

The Office of Student Conduct oversees all aspects of the Student Conduct Code and the student conduct process.? Additionally, the Office of Student Conduct coordinates Clery Act compliance efforts for the Division of Student Affairs.? Education and personal development is the foundation from which the Office of Student Conduct carries out its mission of caring for students, treating students equitably, and making ethical decisions.? ?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in student affairs with increased progressive responsibility
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience directly related to field of student conduct
  • Working knowledge of compliance and legal issues as they pertain to Student Affairs (ex. Title IX, The Clery Act, FERPA, VAWA, etc.).
  • Competency in the investigation of potential violations of the student conduct code and Title IX
  • Experience managing an electronic student conduct database

Additional Considerations:

  • Proven ability to create a vision and long-term goals for the Student Conduct Office
  • Specific training on Title IX Coordination, Investigations, and Case Adjudication
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other departments with especially Police Departments, Athletics and Residence Life
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at the same time
  • Proficient in computer software programs including those in the Microsoft Office group, Adobe Acrobat, Maxient conduct software, and the Universitys SIS system software
  • Proven ability to promote a positive student culture
  • Proven ability to work closely with to address and the needs of faculty, staff, students, parents, and alumni
  • Clear understanding of professional human resource ethics and processes
  • Previous professional supervisory experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
